Our History

1972
“On a visit to the Iberian Peninsula, I experienced the enchantment of the Andalusian Horse.  Unfortunately, upon my return, I could not locate a single one for sale in the United States.  My husband, William Tilley, also had a love for horses…the kind that are found under the hoods of fast cars, mainly Ferrari’s.  That fascination introduced us to Greg Garrison, a renowned collector of world class, one-of-a-kind Ferrari’s.  As luck would have it, Greg also was one of the first importers of the Andalusian horse to the United States.”

1980
“As a Christmas present from my husband Bill, I was presented with a dream come true…a two year old stallion, Bilbaino III, the son of the legendary Legionario III.  I was captivated with the charisma and the heart of this magnificent horse and have never owned another breed since.”

1997
Hemet, California where, for 16 years, Tilley Andalusians trained and produced champion Andalusians.  We have successfully won numerous Regional and National titles as well as High Point Honors and The Horse of the Year Award have been won by the horses campaigned with Nadine and her team. Our gifted and versatile horses also shine in the Open Show world, introducing the Andalusian Breed to Combined Driving, Pleasure Driving and Antique Carriage Driving.

2002
Being an avid antique carriage collector, favoring the carriages of the late 1800’s, Nadine opened a private museum in Los Angeles – The Tilley Carriage House – to showcase her exquisite collection.  It also houses memorabilia and art collected from many years of being in the show arena and her involvement with the Andalusian horse associations:

*IALHA
*USEF
*ADS
*FOUNDATION FOR THE PURE SPANISH HORSE
*USPRE

This fabulous vintage carriage collection is now a part of Nadine's residence at Fieldstone Farm. The completion of this extensive project took place in September of 2020. To view the new photographs of this one of a kind collection, go to the "Galleries" page and you will see The Carriage House."

2004
Nadine and her husband Bill had the fabulous opportunity to put the Andalusian and Lusitano breed in the public eye indefinitely.  They provided a permanent endowment to the University of Southern California’s famous mascot, Traveler.  Now, as long as there is a “Traveler” he will be an Iberian warmblood and Tilley Andalusians is breeding for future USC Mascots.  Fieldstone Farm is now known as “The Home of Traveler”.

2010
Eight equestrian champions have been nominated for the 2010 USEF Equestrian of the Year title.  Among the list of names is Nadine Tilley, Andalusian/Driving.

“The Bill Robinson Trophy is presented to an equestrian competing with horses or ponies across all the breeds in harness or for driving performance in non-international competitions.  Nadine Tilley has been competing in open driving shows, combined driving events and traditional carriage driving, including International Andalusian/Lusitano Horse Association driving classes.  (For 3 decades with 4 different horses)  Her honors in 2010 include four National Champion titles earned at the 2010 IALHA Nationals – Pleasure Driving Open, Pleasure Carriage Driving Amateur, Show Pleasure Driving Junior Horse and Half-Andalusian Driving Amateur.  She also took the blue ribbon in the Pairs Working Open class at the Los Angeles County Fair, in addition to the Working Pairs Championship Stake title.”

2012
Amici BB, our beloved stallion, named “Horse of the Year” by IALHA.

2013-Present
